Raul Lopez

I heard on the KSL-5 late news that there will be an article in the Deseret News tomorrow that will report that Raul Lopez of the Utah Jazz will be staying in Spain, and will not be re-join the Jazz next year. Looks like the knee injuries are catching up to him. He is, however, going to be playing in Spain. I like Lopez, wish he could have stayed healthy, but I think that is a good thing for the Jazz...they desperately need some consistency at the point. Wanna make a comeback Stockton??? 😕

I think it would be for the best if he were to leave. We can't sit around and keep hoping that he'll have an injury-free and consistent year. Chances are it won't happen. He'll never be anything more than an injured backup.

Time to clean out the trash and bring in someone a little more reliable. Man, I'm so glad we didn't take Parker or Tinsley in that draft. 🙄

Lopez was better than Parker at the time of the draft. Tinsley still can't shoot.

I think that the Jazz would have drafted Parker at the time, but they needed someone they could stash on a European roster for a year or two. They could do that with Lopez, but couldn't with Parker. It was a money saving move at the time, but probably cost them today. Imagine last year's team with Parker instead of Eisley or McLoed.

Parker wouldn't have developed the same way playing behind Stockton that he did starting in San Antonio.

You're kidding, right? The only people who thought so at the time were the Jazz FO. Everyone that I knew had Parker much higher on their draft boards and me and my buddies who were watching the draft were shocked that we didn't take him. Well, not shocked (this is the Jazz), but very disappointed.

And Tinsley is no John Stockton, but his shooting is very comparable the Jazz' PG's. The difference is he knows how to run an offense.

Parker was seen as more of a project, with Lopez more ready to come right in. Of course, blown ACLs will screw up at least a season or two if not a career.

If I remember correctly Marty Blake had Lopez higher than Parker.

That's a shame, because Raul was a really cool guy. His injuries were just too much. I always enjoyed his game though, when he was healthy. Good luck to him.
