Streamers

We've talked about this before, and I think we've finally decided that streamers are just plain okay, right?

I stopped by Walmart on the way home from work today and picked up six rolls of streamers. Red, Blue and Yellow for Real, and Red, White and Blue for USA. It's $0.50 for a roll, which is something that I think we can all afford. Am I too late to say--everybody grab a roll or two or six and bring them to the game(s).

What if we made it a tradition, at kickoff, or something like that, every single person in the loyalist section launches a streamer. It would be totally awesome to see that many go at once. It's only $.50 a game. Maybe we could even work something out with a party store or something so they can give us a bulk discount.

Let's do it this weekend. Streamers everyone.

I brought a dozen to the Chicago game, and handed them to some people in my section. They mostly ended up with kids in the front row, and I made sure to tell them only to throw the streamers when the goal is scored or at the end of the game. Kids don't listen too well, and they ended up getting tossed around the 80th minute because they were pissed about losing. Lesson learned - be careful who you pass out streamers to!

I've already got my streamers ready.

Last week a few launched some streamers together right at the end of the game when the final whistle blew and that looked pretty good.

I'm going to hang on to a roll or two for the final whistle this week.

And those rolls are 81 feet long so what I do is unroll half, rip it, and then roll it back up and then I have two 40 foot rolls. $.25 each, something I can afford.

I'm bringing a bunch of people, and we're all sitting up on row 25 in the Loyalists section. Hopefully, I can buy some and we can rain them down from there when we score goals! That is, if I'm not too excited to think properly when that happens. :D

So in some countries they play entire matches with the pitch covered in streamers and confetti, and here they have to stop the match to pick up some streamers?

So, maybe they aren't okay for CONCAF games but they are okay for RSL Games?

It's been so long since we scored a goal I'm not sure I'd know what do if it happens. 😎
I brought two red and two blue rolls on Saturday. Threw the red when USA scored the first two goals. I was saving the blue for the RSL game. I've still got them. 😠

I noticed some of the players (like Eddie Pope) were getting their feet tangled in the streamers before they were pulled off the field. I'll keep throwing it until they ask us to stop, though.

Have we abandoned the confetti machine idea? During the highlights of the Mexico-Guatemala match, I noticed that the goal box was filled with light blue and white confetti before Mexico scored their goals. It would be awesome if the loyalists could do the same to that north goal at the opening kickoff and maybe when RSL players eventually put the ball in the north net.

I posted some links a while ago, but no one seemed interested. I thought it was cool though.
