Rongen has stepped down

I think we saw it coming, but it's official.

I wonder what this means for Chivas.

I hope it doesn't mean the team and ownership are thinking of "stepping down" as well. We need Chivas to be good. It helps the MLS as a whole.

I doubt this will be the end of the cheetos, which is too bad since I couldn't disagree with you more on their value to MLS.

Their value to MLS is that they currently are in the league. We don't need another team folding a la Miami and Tampa. Soccer naysayers have enough ammo without being able to point to another failed team.

I would rather Vergara sell to someone who wants to put together an actual MLS club, move them to a city that doesn't already have a team, give them their own identity, and develop a following in a new market/city/region. I want the original criteria for getting an expansion team--new city, fan interest, commitment to build a stadium--to be followed.

In other words, I want what should have happened in the first place, and what DID happen with RSL.

Amen. I love that the Chivas experiment is failing, because if it fails completely, that should discourage America, Tigres, Pumas, ManU, and all the others who were waiting in the wings to see how it went.

San Antonio can have what's left of Chivas. Sell them to Muirstein or whatever. Let's have our own league.

Fox news said they already have a new coach hired, but that he needs to get his Work Visa to enter the country. Wonder who it could be?

Chivas just promoted the GK/asst Coach to head coach. No big change, really.
Rongen is still with Chivas USA as president of player development.

I thought this was a temporary change until they get the new coach in? I guess the news was wrong?

Well maybe you are right.
Got this from BS:

Veteran Dutch coach Hans Westerhoff will be named coach of Chivas USA this week, the Los Angeles Times has learned.
