MLS Week 9 Attendance

This week's numbers:

25 May

KC-Metro: 7,129
CRapids-Quakes: 6,579
Galaxy-Crew: 18,066

28 May

Revs-CRapids: 12,317
DCU-FCD: 16,624
Crew-Metro: 9,413
KC-Quakes: 8,526
RSL-Fire: 17,861
sc-Galaxy: 20,916

MLS average for all games this year is 13,718
--not good so far. Four teams continue to hold up the average: LA, Fire, RSL, and DCU. The Fire don't look so good without the big crowd for Poland-Mexico.

FCD and the Quakes are averaging less than 10K, while the Revs, CRapids, and KC are barely above it.

Dallas will get a boost from their new stadium.

Say hello to your Temblor Aguilas de America de San Antonio de Tejas.

How can established teams draw so poorly for weekend games? Do they not have anyone in marketing?

I think the fans in Dallas are writing off the Cotton Bowl games and just waiting for Frisco to open. Three games left in the old pit.

After my midweek visit to Arrowhead, I'd still keep the Wizards in the running for relocation. I was underwhelmed by the KC soccer experience.

I don't wish relocation on any soccer fans. But it looks like somone's got to move, and KC and San Jose just aren't delivering at the gate.

I'm too lazy to surf over to weather.com

But maybe Columbus had thunderstorms? Those roll in this time of year to the Buckeye State.

And all those weeks of sucking up until they ran into us did not help.

When there are more people in the stands for a USL game than a MLS game, perhaps the Don and staff need to look at different cities than "major league" cities.

Good observation.

On DK I didn't see any evidence of weather problems anywhere. I think Columbus fans are just fed up.

Cheetos are not delivering on the field or at the gate. We were promised a big road following wherever they play, but only in Denver did it actually happen. Should be some cheetos fans next week in Chicago, but they can't even draw at home! If it wasn't for Galaxy fans, they'd have had another 10K crowd today.

DC and RSL continue to draw well despite mediocre records.

There were way too many of their ugly striped jerseys in Rice Eccles, but I don't believe it measured up to what was expected before the season started. If they didn't suck so bad, maybe they would draw on the road.

Looks like winning may actually be important. Imagine that.

The cheetos organization seriously underestimated MLS, and now they're paying for it at the gate and in the loss column.

I love it that Goats Lite are the laughingstock of the league. Maybe Club America will think twice about investing in MLS now. I really don't care if our teams have the same owners as teams in other leagues, but I don't want to see another jr. team experiment, so to speak.
