Well, at least my Milwaukee Wave won the MISL championships in a 10-9 nailbiter tonight.

Let me just add my two cents worth to this conversation, "OUCH!"

My mom arrived from Washington D.C. at the half so I spent the rest of the game talking to her instead of watching the game. It sounds like I didn't miss much.

UUUUGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

It seemed to me that for the whole first half there were about twice as many yellow jerseys on the field as there were red. From my perspective it appeared that Columbus were always around the ball, and our guys were nowhere to be seen. 🙁

Perhaps it's true that our fans are what helps our team win each time. They seem, to a degree, demotivated when away.

Did anyone else think that the crossed balls were a waste of time all night long? It was refreshing to see Pierce actually try a direct shot on goal instead.

By the way, Pierce was about the only one who seemed to exert himself 100% all match long. I'm thinking he gets my vote for Man of the Match this game.

He was my vote as well. The last shot was good, but he looked lost on the last goal as he was supposed to be marking Hejduk.
Overall, I think he gave it the most all game.

WARNING: Non-expert soccer question:

As a rule of thumb how do they determine who marks who? Is it by position? Is it ad hoc on each corner or free kick? How did Pierce get picked to mark Hejduk? It seems logical for defenders to mark strikers or attacking midfielders before marking opposing defenders or defensive midfielders due to their size and experience.
