another reason I'm glad soccer is here. Between football season and soccer season, there's only 3 months I have to let politics enter the mind. With the state of affairs both republican and democrat, that's 3 months too long.

Sandy looks for a bigger kick than soccer

By the way, I don't like the title and what it insinuates! 😠

Will they be named the Salt Lake Twins of Sandy?

It's a little depressing to think that we are dumber than the people that elected Jesse Ventura governor.

Sandy has outmaneuvered Salt Lake City--that's the bottom line.

The SLC Council decided to wait-and-see on a stadium, and Sandy has jumped in to take the lead.

Nothing is decided, of course, but you have to think that RSL is in a much stronger position when yet another city is proposing a deal for our soccer stadium.

Uncle Dave says he's looking to announce something in the late summer. Should be interesting over the next few months.

And that is the bottom line. Whatever helps the chances of us getting a stadium is a good thing in my opinion. I think it is great that this stuff is going on. Nothing gets people moving more than thinking they were stabbed in the back. Revenge is a great motivator. :D

The deal seems to be pretty good...

Consider this: SLC plan: have the City buy the land and a TRAX stop and have the County pass a bond for 50% of the brick and mortar;
Sandy plan: buy the land with the parking structure money, probably have to buy a TRAX stop at 9400S, and no bond...instead an entertainment/hotel tax for 50% of the brick, Checketts to do the last 50%.

Due to no need to go to the actual taxpayers for approval, the second deal has a better chance of getting done. There is concern that the bond would not pass due to the bad press from earlier this spring, so Sandy and the County are trying to circumvent the taxpayers. Maybe bad for County citizens, but good for RSL.

Deuce...remember, the SLC Counsel was on board to purchase the land for the stadium, it wasn't until their funding source was pulled that they had to back off...(inside sources say) if SLC had the money for the land, they would already have an agreement done.

“I’m quite unhappy about it [the yellow card],” Kreis said. “I really felt that Nagamura was reaching and grabbing cuz he couldn’t hang with me. I will go ahead and make one statement about myself: I am not a diver. And I don’t think I deserved that yellow card.”

Bold statement. He'll be back on Sat. for goals 96 and 97, I'm sure. We planning a special something for 100 if it's at home?

From the Provo Herald - RSL Looking for more Payback
http://www.heraldextra.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=55270&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0

Is it just me, or does anyone else think the Provo Herald has had lousy coverage overall of RSL?

I just reviewed Jason Franchuk's articles - how can that paper even survive with such a negative, pessimistic sports writer?
