I think its a travesty that Eddie Pope is not in camp. Mathis I can see, he hasnt done much with the Nats lately. Give him more time to find form with RSL.

I think it's good to have guys like McBride and Berhalter. They are as fit as can be as the season's just ended, and especially McBride is on a tear right now. With the European seasons over (or close) I think its great to have all of the Europeans on the USMNT we can get.

That said, on a selfish note, Im gland Eddie and Cletus are going to play Dallas instead of Costa Rica (especially as we will likely be without Rojas and Tiger, right?)

Ya gotta feel a little bad, I mean isn't being with the USMNT the pinnacle of a US players career? Individually, that sucks, but for ReAl as a team, it's good.

Midfielder Eddie Lewis made his return to the starting lineup after undergoing surgery for appendicitis only three weeks ago.

This is from Yanks Abroad. Perhaps we could see him in RES after all?

I believe that Eddie Pope is planning on "reserve" status. Or maybe the word he used was alternate. Something like that. At least for the England match. Things may change after that.

from the article: "The U.S. roster for the upcoming qualifiers will be determined following the Memorial Day weekend matches."

From what I understand... Clint told Bruce he didn't want to be with the Nats if Bruce didn't really inted to use him. Clint told Bruce he would rather help his club and coach if he weren't going to be a serious consideration for the Nats.

Pope is getting screwed if he doesn't play.

According to DN:
POPE GETS THE CALL: RSL defender Eddie Pope wasn't one of the 19 players U.S. National Team coach Bruce Arena called up for an exhibition game against England later this month. He is, however, one of the 24 players Arena will be calling into training camp for the June 4 and June 8 World Cup qualifiers.

I admit, I was wrong!

When I got Eddie's autograph after practice on Friday, I asked if we would see him in the qualifier. He told me that he was an alternate for this leg of qualifying. If he is on the bench as a sub, does that mean he will also play for the RSL match? Would coach play him if he didn't even play half of the MNT match? I would be disappointed if Arenas left him on the bench the whole time in front of the Salt Lake crowd.
