One of the reasons I want our stadium built sooner rather than later is to get our players away from FT. Hopefully the Metros get their deal down and move off FT too.
I agree. I can't wait for real grass.

But I still think that way too much is being made of the field turf. It has become the excuse that every single person has used for any sort of flub-up they have had playing against us. I wonder what excuse they are going to use when we beat them on grass.

If FT is such an advantage, then why do the Metrostars suck so bad?

Funny you should ask. Get this--Metro says the Giants Stadium FT is a disavantage to THEM. They can't win at home, so they blame their own FT.

That's right. As if the other team doesn't have to play on it too.

If Metro didn't exist, we'd have to invent them.

That's a great question. 😉

And from what I understand, their FT surface is in much worse shape than the one at RES. While I will agree it is a little different than actual grass, every field in the world plays differently than all the others. Some are fast. Some are slow. Some are uneven. Way too much credit is being given to the field instead of the team. In fact, I'd give the goalposts more credit for our success at home than I would the surface. 🙂

I'm just tired of hearing about the field and the excuses it gives other teams when they come in here. These are supposed to be great soccer players and they should be able to adjust to playing on the FT just like they have to adjust to playing on every field in the world since they are all different.

One other thing that I noticed when watching the replay of the game Saturday. Whenever a Real player mishandled the ball, the announcer said that he mishandled the ball, but whenever a Galaxy player mishandled the ball it was because of the FT. Every single time. There wasn't a single instance of a Galaxy player mishandling the ball because it was always the FT's fault. I guess the Galaxy would have played a perfect game if it wasn't for the Turf Monster. 🙄

I guess they forgot the old adage that both teams have to play on the same pitch.
